Guinea pigs are highly social herd animals. A single guinea pig will be chronically stressed. Always keep at least two.

Vitamin C — Critical
Guinea pigs cannot synthesise their own Vitamin C. Without it, they develop scurvy — painful joint disease and ultimately death.

- Timothy hay: 80% of their diet — always available
- Vitamin C-fortified pellets
- Fresh water daily

- Common issues: dental problems, respiratory infections, mites
- Signs of illness: hunching, not eating, discharge, weight loss
